FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How are teams selected?

A: Xtreme conducts three tryout sessions that are monitored and videotaped (for review) by over twenty-four volunteer coaches and advisors. These volunteers rank players on ability, coachability, hustle, determination and other criteria that Xtreme strives for in our players. All volunteers help to decide where a player is ultimately placed in our organization based on these ranking and evaluations.

Q: How are tournaments selected?

A: Each player is provided with a Tournament Sign-Up Sheet. This is a list of tournaments that are available to their team to attend for the season. The sign-up sheet will have the tournament dates, times, and locations as well as the Tournament Fees associated with each event. Players will have the opportunity to sign up for all the tournaments that she can play in. Once all players have announced their availability for the season’s tournaments, the team’s coaches will make the final selection of no more than 12 tournaments that the team will attend. Once a tournament list for each team is published, every player on that team is financially obligated for the season’s tournaments. Xtreme VBC understands that individual and family schedules can change, so we do allow a player who has said "NO" to a tournament to change that "NO" to a "YES" with proper notification given to the coach.

Q: Can my daughter play outside of her age group?

A: A player, depending on their abilities, team requirements and evaluations may be asked to play with an older age group than their age classification. These players that are asked to “move up” hold equal status with their teammates and will participate with that team, as would every other member.

Q: How come my daughter can’t fund raise for her own tournament fees?

A: Xtreme adheres to the NCAA guideline that states; money raised by a prospect or his or her relatives may not be earmarked for use by that prospect only. Doing so would jeopardize the prospect’s amateur status. All money raised by a prospect and any individual associated with that student-athlete must be contributed to the local sports club’s general account to be used by all members of the club. The club, at its discretion, can decide where to spend those funds.

Q: How come my daughter isn’t playing enough?

A: Xtreme VBC guarantees a ‘fair’ amount of playing time for every player, this does not necessarily mean an ‘equal’ amount. When considering the amount of playing time that a player is receiving make sure that the comparison is being made among players that play the same position. More playing time is earned by regularly being at practice, attending tournaments, working hard to improve, fostering team relationships, demonstrating good sportsmanship, and executing the skills when given the opportunity to play. More information on playing time can be found on our web site.
